And he’s got a heart of gold

Meet Council Member Bill Petersen

Bill Petersen is not only a familiar face around the Kings Ridge golf course, he’s also a steady voice and often the swing vote on the City Council. You might have also run into him at the local CVS where he volunteers to help with flu shots.

A native New Yorker, Petersen spent his career as a pharmacist and now volunteers to give inoculations to people who have transportation or mobility limitations.

Petersen was also a successful entrepreneur, running a nursing agency with over 600 healthcare professionals. He volunteered as an EMT at his local fire station for 20 years.

“My life’s work has always been about protecting and serving others,” he said.

These experiences have provided him with strong feelings about the need for the City of Clermont to have its own ambulance service, especially with the growth in south Clermont where it takes 10 minutes for an ambulance to arrive.

On the first Monday of the month Petersen holds court at Panera, where he invites the public to come and find out what’s new at the City, as he fields a variety of questions.
